WARNING: DOE-EYED MILLENNIALS

ARE IN THE HOUSE

CHIEF OF STAFF, ELEAZAR MELENDEZ TOUTS ALL THE POSITIVE THINGS THAT COMMISSIONER KEN RUSSELL HAS BEEN UP TO THAT KEPT HIM FROM LEARNING THE COMMISSION'S RULES OF PROCEDURES IN MAKING A MOTION TO CALL THE QUESTION

Shortly after I posted my story the week before last about City Commissioner Ken Russell’s failure to demonstrate both his lack of knowledge and moxie in attempting to use a parliamentary procedure to end the debate over his motion to throw out the RFP results on the Rickenbacker Marina project and start all over again, Russell’s Chief of Staff, Eleazar Melendez posted a glowing self-promotional defense of the Commissioner and his staff that centered on their accomplishments after 6 months in office that he claimed was in large part the result of their being “doe-eyed millennials with no prior experience in government of politics whatsoever.”

Only in politics and public service are gross ignorance lack of experience celebrated as positive attributes.

Of course, all of this self-promotional claptrap is predicated on reaching for the lowest hanging fruit, and then celebrating like it was 1999, while at the same time failing to learn the fundamentals of governance that that separate the amateurs from the pros.

Imagine if you will, what you would do if you got on an airplane and the stewardess were to tell you, “We’re so psyched to have you on board today because our pilot is a former surfboard salesman whose never flown a plane, and our crew is an improbable collection of doe-eyed millennials who’ve never even been inside an airplane before, but don’t you worry, we’re going to do marvelous things on the way to our destination.”

How quickly would you be climbing over the seats to get off that plane?

The very idea that the Chief of Staff of a recently elected Miami City Commissioner would be so stupendously stupid as to brag about everyone’s lack qualifications and experience as being something to be proud of, tells you a lot about the judgement of the person who hired all of these inexperienced millennials, and worse, what the citizens of District 2 can look forward to when the low hanging fruit is dealt with, and the serious, complicated issues involving the governance of a major American city come to the forefront, as is already beginning to happen.

I think that the City of Miami needs to put out warning signs outside of City hall that read:

It’s always Miami, Bitches!

PS: Take a look at the gang sign Melendez is flashing in the photo above.  Is it some secret Millennial gang sign?
