In a split decision the 3rd DCA just issued an opinion that will allow the November ballot to be printed without the inclusion of the campaign finance referendum being part of the ballot.

In short, the efforts by the group Accountable Miami-Dade did not succeed in their legal effort to have the decision of the Miami-Dade County Commission to vote down the referendum question overturned.

Yesterday, the Crespogram posted copies of all of the legal briefs that had been filed in this case, including the one from JC Planes representing Eric Zichella, a local lobbyist, and I would urge all of those who want to get a better understanding of what was at stake in this issue to go and READ all of these legal briefs, but especially Planes's brief because it addresses the concerns about this referendum issue not only misleading the voters but also having an impact far beyond the borders of Miami-dade County.

At the earliest, this question will now be put on the ballot in 2018, unless other actions by the County Commission, or additional court cases stop that.
