PAPA BEAR

VS

GOLDILOCKS

IN THE FAIRY TALE, GOLDILOCKS ATE THE PORRIDGE, SAT IN THE CHAIRS, SLEPT IN THE BEDS AND RAN AWAY WHEN THE BEARS CAME HOME. IN THE, "IT'S MIAMI, BITCHES" VERSION, PAPA BEAR GOT PISSED  AND SUED HER ASS.

Now, I'm not a fan of Goldilocks for several reasons, not the least of which is that I suspect that Marcia Del Rey is not looking at the possibility of being a judge as a career high - after all when she resigned from the State Attorney's Office - even before she had actually been hired - she stated in her letter of resignation that "being a prosecutor...has always been my dream." Her dream ended when she found out she had to work long hours, and weekends.

I suspect - and this is just my personal opinion - that Marcia's desire to be a real judge might really be just a step towards wanting to be a fake judge on TV, which requires that you first be a real judge.

Her opponent on the other hand is a guy who a lot of people are now wondering how he managed to amass a $37 million dollar fortune playing the stock market.

It can happen, but it's still a puzzlement for some folks, and while it's nice to have a commitment towards public service when you have enough money to do anything else you ever wanted to do, the decision by Judge Bloch to file a lawsuit against Del Rey on the basis of the kind of information that would normally show up on a blog like mine, or perhaps in a complaint filed with the Florida Election's Commission raises a serious question about the judge's sense of entitlement and his grasp of the law.

A llawsuit like this only gets filed because somebody with a lot of money has a snit fit, and has the money to go out and pay lawyers to clog the court system with this stuff.

The only problem is that this time that person is a sitting judge, and if nothing else, he should have more respect for the court system than to try and use it for political gain.

There are many in the legal community who think the lawsuit is bullshit that will get thrown out the first time arguments are made before a judge, and after reading the complaint, I tend to agree with those folks.

I believe that even the Judge believes that - if he doesn't then I damn sure would never want to have him as a judge on any case of mine - and I think that he decided that because Goldilocks had spent so much money on those photoshopped billboards ads along with the ones on the sides of buses, and bus benches and who knows where else, that he figured that spending the money it cost to have some lawyers draft and file a lawsuit in the hopes of generating some publicity was just another way to spend his advertising money.

So, in typical Miami fashion, I believe that it's a loss for the voters, and the judicial system regardless who ends up getting elected.

FOR THOSE CURIOUS ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY THESE TWO PEOPLE HAVE, AND A PEEK INTO THEIR LIFESTYPES, HERE ARE THE FINANCIAL REPORTS THEY WERE REQUIRED TO FILE WHEN THEY FILED TO RUN FOR OFFICE.
